The international theater hit "Marlene" is coming to the Netherlands. A dazzling musical theater piece featuring international star Sven Ratzke in the role of the legendary Marlene Dietrich: a film goddess full of mystery and glamour, who, as a chansonnière, experienced a second career and chose to spend the last years of her life in complete seclusion in her Parisian apartment.
It's November 3, 1960. Marlene is back in Berlin. She sits in the dressing room. Outside, the crowd chants 'Go home Marlene!' and 'traitor!'. Inside, the diva prepares for her first show since the war. A journey through the life of one of the greatest icons of the 21st century ensues.
A glimpse into the madness, the showbiz, her memories full of nostalgia and longing. The highlight: the concert as she gave it then, in 1960 in Berlin.
After his leading roles in musical classics and the acclaimed one-man shows like the international hit performance "Where are we now" about the life and work of David Bowie, Sven Ratzke is the ideal interpreter of this character. Like no other, Ratzke can switch between genders and master the work of icons.

Infused with beautiful music and framed by texts from top author Connie Palmen and costumes by Ian Griffiths (creative director of Max Mara), "Marlene" balances between grand theater and an intimate one-woman show, full of sly humor and deep emotions.
