BOYS WON’T BE BOYS presents personal and honest stories about masculinity, and is a vibrant safe space for a diverse group of performers with a talent for being human.

We're different, so what? Nobody fits neatly into the box of 'man', and that's precisely what we want to celebrate. By sharing all these different stories, we break down prejudices and stereotypes, and we get closer to each other. Boys Won't Be Boys is both a cheerful protest and an ode to the concept of man.

The initiator, armed with killer heels, Rikkert van Huisstede presents a colorful parade of performers who tell, sing, rap, joke, dance, in short: we pull out all the stops this evening. And boxes? They are there for you to dress up as who you really are.

The concept grew into a large social theater project in which more than 100 performers and many young people are given the opportunity to express themselves freely as people and theater makers.

Een theatrale happening met echte mensen. BOYS WON’T BE BOYS geeft persoonlijke en eerlijke verhalen over mannelijkheid een podium en is een wervelende vrijplaats voor een steeds wisselende groep spelers met talent om mens te zijn. We verschillen, nou en? Niemand past precies in het hokje man, en precies dat willen wij vieren. Door al die verschillende verhalen met elkaar te delen doorbreken we vooroordelen en stereotypen en komen we dichter bij elkaar.

Boys Won't Be Boys is een vrolijke aanklacht en ode aan het begrip man. De met killerheels gewapende initiatiefnemer Rikkert van Huisstede speelt samen met een kleurrijke parade van spelers die vertellen, zingen, rappen, grappen, dansen. Kortom: we trekken deze avond alles uit de kast. En hokjes? Die zijn er om je in om te kleden tot wie je echt bent.  

Het concept groeide uit tot een groot maatschappelijk theaterproject waar inmiddels meer dan 100 spelers en vele jongeren de ruimte krijgen om zich in vrijheid uit te spreken als mens en theatermaker.
